Since its foundation in 1928, the AIA has promoted and supported the advancement of the accountancy profession both in the UK and internationally. The AIA was specifically founded to provide an international organisation for professional accountants and is fully committed to the ongoing achievement of this original aim. Under the UK Companies Act 1989 the AIA professional accountancy qualification is a Recognised Qualifying Body (RQB) for company auditors. This is the highest recognition attainable by a UK accountancy body and means that members of the AIA holding the audit qualification can practise as registered auditors in the UK under the control of a recognised supervisory body. The AIA qualification is also recognised in the European Union; the largest economic block in the world with a population of around 455 million. Currently the EU has 25 member states including countries such as Germany, France, Spain and Italy. These recognitions are an endorsement of the Association's qualification, and greatly increase the opportunities open to AIA members and students. The Association offers an internationally recognised qualification of the highest standard and is committed to broadening the awareness of the AIA qualification in both the academic world and in the business sector.

以英国为基地的国际会计师公会是一个国际性的会计团体。自从成立於1928年以来，AIA 己经促进和支援了在英国和世界其他地方有关会计专业的发展。AIA是为了将专业会计师国际化而特别成立的组织，且完全不断地致力於达到最初成立的宗旨。 在1989年的英国公司法之下，AIA专业会计资格也就是公认的公司审计师资格团体(RQB)。这是英国的会计团体可获得的最高认可，而且意味着持有审计资格的AIA成员可以在经公认监督团体的控制下在英国从事注册审计师的工作。 AIA资格在欧盟也得到认可。目前，欧盟是世界上最大的经济板块、拥有25个成员国，包括德国、法国、西班牙及义大利。这是对国际会计师公会资格的认可，而且大大地增加了AIA成员和学员的机会。 公会提供了有最高标准的国际性认可资格， 并致力於在学术界和工商界拓宽AIA资格的知名度。
